Funds provided by the Scott County Fiscal Court and the Kentucky Division of Conservation are channeled through the District to assist landowners with projects designed to benefit the environment or address environmental concerns. This is an on-going program not limited to one specific sign-up period. Applications are reviewed for approval at the next monthly Board of Supervisors' meeting. Eligible projects include: Alternative Water Souces, Exclusion Fencing, Heavy Use Areas, Riparian Area Re-Establishment, and Rocked Gateway/Barn Entrance Erosion Control. Cover Crop and No-Till incentive programs have been offered as well. Depending upon the effect of severe weather such as drought, pasture re-seeding has also been cost shared.
Projects are cost shared at 50%. Accumulated maximum cost share is capped at $3,500 per farm/per individual for a calendar year. Prerequisite: you must have completed a KY Ag Water Quality Plan .
Scott County Conservation District is accepting applications for cost share funding under the Kentucky Soil Erosion and Water Quality Cost Share Program by the Kentucky Division of Conservation (DOC). If there is an environmental issue that is eligible under the D.O.C.'s guidelines you may submit an application at any time. The cutoff date for applying for the 2024 SCS funding is October 31. The Kentucky Soil and Water Conservation Commission will approve funding for the ranked applications as funds are available for that year. Applications are available at the District's office M-F from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm or email scottcountycd@yahoo.com.
For programs such as EQIP, CSP, WHIP, please call 502-863-2466 to be connected to Doug Wilson, (NRCS, Harrison County Conservation District and Scott County Conservation District Soil Technician), who works out of the Penn Avenue office at least once a day a week, and can schedule farm visits as needed. He would be happy to discuss your projects and the programs offered by the Natural Resource Conservation Service.
Please be advised it is required to have a Kentucky Ag Water Quality Plan completed and a copy on file with our office for Local, State, and Federal cost share programs. Call our office to schedule a time to complete the plan if your farm does not have one. The law requires agricultural property, 10 acres or more, to have a plan in place however any farm operation is welcome to complete one to confirm or learn of best management practices.
