As a result of the disastrous Dust Bowl of the 1930's, President Frankin D. Roosevelt requested all states to pass legislation establishing soil conservation districts to assist Federal efforts in protecting soil from erosion problems.
The Scott County Conservation District received its Certificate of Organization on November 15, 1941. For over eight decades it has been our goal to protect and preserve the fine quality of Scott County's natural resources.
We are primarily funded by the people of Scott County via the Scott County Fiscal Court. Additional funding is obtained from the Kentucky Division of conservation and the Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy. We are local government and a sub-entity of state government.
What we Do
The District assists Scott County landowners and land users in installing sound conservation best management practices on their land in order to control erosion and protect water quality.
Programs
